Tinka was our first Whippet and first ever dog. He was bred by Miss L A Parker from Chichester, West Sussex and taken on as a companion. He is not from a show kennel, but has some famous names in his ancestry and 12 champions in his 5 generation pedigree. He is descended mainly from the Fullerton and Nevedith showing lines on top, and includes Pelyma, Kaymark and Suchini on the bottom, with some famous coursing names way back via the Pelyma and Suchini connection. He has an extremely low COI.

Tinka was virtually house trained when we got him, knew what "bed" meant, was bold, balanced and laid back, and extremely bright.
His temperament has always been exemplary, a real gent, very kind to everyone and thing.
Julie thought it may be fun to show Tinka whilst waiting for him to come of age for lure coursing, especially as she was no longer showing the horse. They attended Ringcraft Classes starting autumn 2011 and all through 2012.
Tinka won half his match classes with second in the other half and two Reserve Best In Match. He finished the 2012 year as "Top Hound" and "Points Setter" (highest match points from all hounds and highest points from all members), while Julie gained a joint "Most Improved Handler".
The two beginners debuted in the dog show world on November 1st 2011, having only attended one ringcraft class and done lots of research. Tinka did better than expected, & they got the bug!
Tinka surprised us by being quite successful from puppy to yearling, being placed in 11 of 14 Championship show classes including 3 first and 2 second. He qualified for Crufts 2013 three times and showed in Yearling dog and Undergraduate dog on March 7th under Mr Per Iverson.
With limited Open showing Tinka has had a BPIS with 5 BPIB, 4 BOB, a BOS & RBOB. He has seldom been unplaced in breed classes which we think is not bad for a 'pet' Whippet. In around 50 outings he has only come home with "nothing to show" for his outing about five times.
Julie really enjoys the AV classes best, and Tinka seems to be appreciated by the BIS all-round Judges. He has won 13 AV classes and placed 2nd eight times starting in Minor Puppy & Novice right up to Open Stakes, Special Beginners and Open Hound.
He concentrated on Lure Coursing from April to October 2013 and finished the year as BSFA Top Whippet, 5th Overall Sight Hound.
In September 2014 he became a KC Good Citizen Dog (Bronze) and has been a KC Companion Dog Club member since a puppy.
For April 2015 we joined Andover & DWRC for monthly racing, as they have a new League for the show bred dogs. He was cleared in May, passported (NPWRA) and has finished the year in fine form in 2 Leagues.
Although we are not overly ambitious, Julie would love for Tinka to eventually gain the title of LCM and/or ShCM (halfway there with both), as there have been no title holders in his ancestry for 13 years!
